I'm pretty sure I'm not making alot of sense...

Gah!! My husband just brought one of his bosses into my house to use the bathroom!!! I may in fact die of mortification now. Because, I'm sick. And so my already-needed-to-be-cleaned-desperately-house looks like a tornado hit it. Because that's what happens when I'm sick. No one cleans up. To give Lu credit, she's been working 8 hour days and Dexter is here so cleaning the house has not been high on her priority list. Also, they left yesterday to go to his folks house for the night. Sean also hasn't been feeling well, but he will run the vacuum if I beg. And hubby? Well, let's just say he's so busy with work that he left me for two hours with a 102 degree fever and didn't check on me. Although, right before that he did bring me a fountain coke.

So I guess if the fever doesn't kill me, the embarrassment will. I hate for people to see my house when it's dirty. It makes me feel like a failure (and I'm pretty sure in Martha Stewart's book I get no gold star today). I know, you're thinking "Spot, your house doesn't have to be clean". But it does. I feel better when it is. I hate cleaning, but I love a clean house. The way it smells. The way it feels. (Happier and well loved). And I know that the feminists are going to get me but it's my job. Now that I don't work outside the home, taking care of the house is my job. It's only fair, since hubby works outside the home and supports us. I know that's uber traditional thinking but it's how I was raised and it's what I believe. But that doesn't mean I don't take help when I can get it!!

Anyway, Lu just texted and said that they were coming home right after the memorial service they had to attend and she would marshal the boys into cleaning up the house. Bless her little organizing soul. I'm saved. So after rambling here, and leaving several inane and rambling comments on other's blogs, I'm going back to bed. I have to keep that infection in my head and not let it escape to my chest!! (Because then I end up in the hospital). So happy Friday!! And hopefully, I will be well by Monday, and funnier...and make more sense....

  1. I hate housework, exercise and appointments. Anything that has to be done. I would die if that happened to me. I have to clean before someone comes, it's just the law. My dream when rich (right) is to have someone to clean the house. I don't care about fast cars and stuff like that. Just don't want to do housework, but to live in a house where nothing is visible except books and vast expanses of clean timber flooring, smelling all timbery fresh. Feel better soon!

  2. I'm with you. I don't work outside the home either and I do feel it is my job to keep the house up to par. I cook, I clean and take care of the hubby. Thankfully my hubby is not a messy person, so that helps.

I'm glad that Lulu is coming to the rescue and please take care. You need to get better for your sake, not ours.

  3. I get it. I am not at all happy when my house is a mess.

Hmm - that goes a long way to explain my over all mood of late.

I really hope you are feeling better soon, my friend. Good thoughts for you ...

  4. I HATE when Tom just brings people home without letting me know. It's usually when I'm still in PJs, my hair is a mess, and the house smells like a giant fart. I'm all, "TOM! Just shoot me a text as a warning, okay?"

  7. Ok, tried this earlier on my phone and failed miserably. One - feel better, sicko. Two - I only let people in my house if their drunk and are frantic to pee. That way they don't even notice all the pubes all over the tile floor.

  8. I hope you are feeling better soon.
I know how mortifying it can be to have someone use a bathroom that has not been cleaned. All people I know understand I am not a great housekeeper, (I'm not even a half-way good housekeeper,) so I don't care what they think. However, were an "important person" to use my bathroom, I WOULD feel badly...

  9. Having a clean house is important and does make you feel better about yourself, I come from a family upbringing in which the Mom stayed home and kept house and the Dad worked, this is well and good but I myself like it cleaner than my wife has time for sometimes and so I jump in to help her out, I am not above cleaning and am tickled that you have an organizer who just may help the boys learn that it takes everyone to run a household.

Feel better Spot and smile while they are cleaning for you.

  10. I am worried about you! You need to go to the doctor or you WILL end up in the hospital. If that is the same crap that's been going around, not only does it NOT go away on it's own, but it gets WORSE and will only be cured with the big gun antibiotics the wimpy ones don't work on it at all. PLEASE!!!
    I feel like your mom!
Forget the house, get well. Do you have DR or health center that makes house calls?

:-( Sending go to the doctor vibes your way.

  12. I have pretty much given up on the whole clean house thing now that we have a tribe of kids. I live in a constant state of embarrassment...oh well...there are far worse things I suppose...like running out of chocolate or.... not having enough Bud Light Lime to get you through your bbq chicken binge...

Sorry..I got off topic. Feel better girl. Hugs.

  13. Get some rest and get well soon! Do not worry about housekeeping when you are sick. Everyone understands about that. You have a free pass!

  14. Unexpected bathroom visitors are the worst! Yes, they should be spotless all the time...but no, they are not usually, please give at least a 15 minute warning before you show up doing the pee-pee dance. That said, I'm sure the boss will understand. Hope you are feeling better soon. Now get those troops scrubbing!

  17. It doesn't sound like it will work for you, but for me, lowering my standards was a big fat help. Also, it was easy.

  18. What you don't realize is that the boss is a GUY...and they NEVER notice shit like....well, you know....

Seriously! I'm sure he was busy thinking about something else while he was peeing...not whether the toilet was clean!

    Feel better, sweetie.
